After accepting a course I felt mostly comfortable teaching, I was surprised at how anxious I became when lectures started. Given that this is only my second course I felt underprepared and overwhelmed, even after pouring myself into multiple resources to build my knowledge base. I work in a position closely related to this field, but lacked first hand experience. This book was suggested to be by a reddit user, and I cannot thank that person enough. Huston does a wonderful job of reassuring lecturers like me that I am not alone, and that there may be benefits to embracing the fact that I'm learning alongside students. The tips on prep and abandoning the "expert" role in favor of "facilitator of learning" are extremely helpful.Despite my nerves and concerns, I've had stellar midterm evaluations (taken from the back of the book), and students have noted how much they enjoy the learning environment of our class.While the new prep work is still pretty time consuming, Huston's advice has made it all more enjoyable. Highly recommended.
